Field work commenced in July and August after geotechnical investigation and earth retention system engineering was completed. Progress for the previous 2 months setting up traffic control and detouring traffic around Lower Roosevelt Road, pavement removal and site fence installation, and driving both the launch and the receiving pits for the microtunneling work. One challenge encountered was the discovery cementitious backfill around the existing junction and backflow structure.
Work in September is excavation of the pits and installation of bracing.
