January Progress Update

Happy New Year!

The progress of January consisted of Rausch Infrastructure preparing the launch pit for Midwest Mole to set a jacking frame suitable for advancing 72″ steel casing for a hand-mine for the connection to the Westchester Pumping Station. The hand mining operation began and was completed in January.

Rausch Infrastructure also constructed a box tunnel through cementitious fill between the existing ERS at the junction and backflow structure. This was accomplished by a combination of hand excavating and small machine excavating the cementitious material and erecting a 6″x8″ timber beam box tunnel as the excavation progressed.

February work is planned to core through the exterior wall of the Westchester Pumping Station to install the 48″ HOBAS pipe into the jacked 72″ steel casing and begin the construction of the connecting structure in the launch pit.
